Strike Plate Compatibility Checker

Screen strike plate dimensions before ordering replacement hardware.

Inputs

Measurements

Measure the existing plate end to end.

Large gaps cause latch rattle and misalignment.

Result

Measured door gap (in)
—
Required screw length (in)
—
Common T-strike size (1 = yes)

Strike alignment and screw spacing matter as much as plate size.

Strikes, Handing, and Swing

Strike first, lock second

A 2-1/4 in T-strike is the common swap. For kick-in resistance, fit a security strike with 3-in screws that bite the stud, not just the jamb.

Order the right hand

Stand outside facing the door. Hinges left + swings in = left-hand (LH). Outswing doors reverse the code (LHR/RHR) and want security hinges. Most smart keypads assume a handing, so set it on install day.

Verify before you buy

  • Measure plate end to end with a ruler
  • Check gap with the door closed
  • Confirm 3-in screws bite the stud
